A LIFE OF INTEGRITY

In a time where everything we see is surrounded by a cloud of uncertainty in every aspect of our life's, it is very difficult to trust without questioning. Humanity has turn to misinformation to gain the desires of their heart and their goals, without taking in consideration the consequences of their acts in others people life's and consequently theirs. It is sad to see that even Christians are behaving the same way, their promises and word are so vague and empty that most churches struggles to keep their programs in place. Interpersonal relationships are broken and the feeling of unity most of the time is not existing. With this picture in mind we need to get back to the Word of God to see and understand what is wrong and what can be done to correct this attitude, if it is real in our life's.

If we look at the harmony amongst a group of people, one of the first characteristic of that group that stands out is trust. The cohesion of relationships are held together by it, and without it, everything is lost. When trust is lost chaos reigns.

We need to understand that all our actions and words comes from our hearts. What we speak with our lips are expressions of the condition of our soul.

"He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully." Psalm 24:4

The human race have rejected God and chaos has taken control. We can see that every day. People using all kind of tactics to get what they want and making oaths and promises that they will never uphold. The pharisees of the Bible are a classic example of what it is to mascaraed our bad intentions and lack of commitment. Jesus was against their way of using the Bible to gain control and get what they wanted and for that reason He declared the following:

33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ 34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.

Matthew 5:3-36

What is Jesus trying to tell us?

We should never deceive people with our promises because God is always connected to our lips and commitments. Any failure to comply with our promises it is to fail to our integrity to God. We diminish God's glory whenever we lie.

What can we do to fix it?

37 Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.[a]

Matthew 5:37

We must live our life and make all of our commitments in the presence of the Lord. We cannot hide or run from His presence and what we do here is either building us up in Christ or destroying our testimony.

Christians are expected to be truth to their word. All oaths and promises taken without necessity, or in common conversations, must be sinful because people are evading their guilt. The worse the men is, the less they are bound by oaths, the better they are, the less they need them.

Be truthful to all your words, if you are a Christian, you should be remembered by your word. Be a trustworthy person all the days of your life.
