Why do we need salvation?

This is one question that most people ask and wonder about. We wonder; Why? What happened that we got lost?

Some of us have been blessed to have known about this condition very early in our life’s, others on the contrary haven’t been exposed, introduced or by life’s circumstances have been taught the wrong principles.

I would like to start pointing out that we are someone else’s idea. Wether people believe it or not we are the result of a love greater than anything we could think of. We were created out of nothing, just by the power of His “Word”. The word was spoken and creation came to be. A creation so perfect that He was pleased and happy of what He had done. Amongst all creation, we humans are the crown and pride of our Lord. He gave us something that no other creature on earth has, He made us on His very own image and gave us the breath of life that we all enjoy today. He is the one that holds control over everything and everyone. He decides where we are born and for what purpose we are created. He is the one who provides for all our needs.

This fact is crucial for the understanding of our life’s. We are not made for ourselves but for Him. He made us stewards of His creation, the property of someone else, for which we have to give account for. That means that I was not created randomly or by chance, I am here for a reason, for a purpose and no matter how hard we try to find satisfaction in the world we will never be able to be satisfied until we get into a personal relationship with Him.

So, if we were created with this ultimate purpose for our life’s; What happened?

The world is a beautiful place with so much wonders to enjoy, but at the same time something doesn’t feel right. At times humans are benign and tender and at times are very destructive and oppressive. The only place where we could find the answer for that question is in the Bible. The first man and woman had a perfect relationship with God but they were deceived and acted in rebellion against God. This act meant that man and woman wanted to be like God and live their life’s on their own terms. It was a selfish and destructive decision. By going against God and deciding to do their own plan, with their own very limited wisdom, man and woman introduced corruption and death to God’s perfect creation. This rebellious act introduced sin into the world. Sin, that like a little seed, very inconspicuous, started to grow and grow in our society bringing pain, suffering and destruction. Hence, we are guilty before our Holy God and we do not have a way to save ourselves.

That is a very grim and hopeless situation, if it weren’t for the unconditional love of our Heavenly Father. He knew that we fell in a situation from where we would never be able to escape. For that reason He devised a plan. Because of man rebellion and disobedience we became imperfect and in the eyes of God, we became unholy. That unholiness separated us from God and the only way to reconnect again was by the way of a sacrifice or a ransom. Amongst man none was acceptable, we were and are imperfect, we are all sinners.

In His infinite wisdom God decided to act. He didn’t left us at our own luck, He reached out and came in the form of Jesus Christ. A God with all His power, holiness, love and mercy, incarnated to take our place as a sacrificial lamb. When He died on the cross He took all the punishment we deserved and paid our debt before God. Now, through His sacrifice He has granted us access to His throne and forgiveness of our transgressions and sins. All this He did for free. We do not have to pay or do anything to be saved, just trust in Jesus and He will come to you and make you part of His kingdom forever.

The best part of this plan is yet to come, when everything will be made right again. Jesus will restore the order of things as they were before the fall of man. One day He will return as the King of everything and He will reign with justice and love. He is alive and in control of man’s history but the question remains:

Are you willing to find the purpose for which God created you?
